Welcome to SBMC

Welcome to the Samadhi Buddhist Meditation Center of Florida! Our temple is located in Pinellas Park, Florida and centrally located in Pinellas county. To see our location and get directions, please see the "Contact Us" page.

SBMC serves the local community through offering meditation, Sutta study, holiday celebrations, and Dhamma fellowship. The resident teacher of SBMC is Bhikkhuni Sudarshana Peligoda. Sister Suseela also resides at Samadhi and leads meditation class Tuesday evenings. We also host various guest teachers at the center throughout the year.

Weekly Dhamma Classes at SBMC

Friday Evenings

Friday Services are held from 7pm-9pm every Friday.

We begin promptly at 7pm, chanting in English and Pali the core teachings of the Buddha. After chanting is completed, we offer silent meditation which is followed by a Dhamma talk with group discussion. All are welcome to attend and meditation instruction is offered. There is no charge, but a donation is requested.

The last Friday of the month, is reserved for Sutta study. This meeting focuses on the teachings of the Buddha as a means to deepen our cultivation and understanding of the Dhamma. Bhikkhuni Sudarshana has selected the Digha Nikaya for study. Please join us in exploring the Buddha's precious teachings with Bhikkhuni Sudarshana.

Tuesday Evenings

Silent meditation practice is held every Tuesday evening from 7:00pm until 8:00pm. This class will be held in Noble Silence and there is no talk offered during the evening, but chanting in Pali and English is at the start of the session. This is an opportunity for meditators to develop mindfulness, metta, and insight during the week. Ayya Suseela leads the meditation period.

Notes on our Weekly Practice

Samadhi Buddhist Meditation Center currently has classes two days during the week. Each class is open to any level of knowledge  and all are welcomed to join us! We occasionally host various events around the Pinellas county area. Please check the events page for the latest updates.

Samadhi's meditation space and shrine area is very small, so participants are served on first-come-first served basis. Please, be mindful when parking as we are located in a residential area. Donations are welcome. Your donations are utilized to offer the teacher an honorarium in appreciation of his or her teaching, and to run Samadhi's programs.
